[attr=class, acontent] Saturday being optional classes was fantastic for Connor’s continued work as an artist. Plenty of time to take the bus down to Hearthome and paint some scenes at the contest hall there. It had been a pretty lucrative trip as well, quite a few contestants eager to buy a painting of them and their partner’s performance. Picking up a few new art supplies before heading back, the trip to the SEA campus saw him toting along a decently sized spare canvas – still wrapped up in plastic from the store to boot. The rest of his purchase sat in the messenger bag slung across his shoulder; some new brushes, paints, and a small set of painting knives. [break][break] As he left the bus – Hyro riding along on his shoulder – it was refreshing to see there were still flowers blooming on the fields. He took note of one of the new freshmen and their Mareep. Blue hair, looked to be gold eyes, serious face. Cute, but could probably do with a smile, he thought to himself with a bit of a cocky smirk playing at his face. Teasing the cute ones was the most fun, they always got too flustered to try and turn the personal questions back on him. He pondered adjusting his course and meandering over to say hi.

That morning, Xander had awoken to his small sheep pokemon bleating into his ear for attention, and being the pushover that he is for his dear pokemon, he decided to take her outside to play. As a freshman, Xander was still relatively unfamiliar with the campus, but after walking a distance with his pokemon cradled within his arms, he managed to find a field filled with flowers, something that was sure to make Isabelle happy. There was no better time than a Saturday afternoon to spend some time outdoors, and without a Saturday class, he possessed all the time in the world to relax. A gentle breeze danced upon the flower petals as he gingerly placed the mareep upon the ground, who immediately scurried towards the nearest blossom to investigate. With a soft sigh, the indigo-haired man sat upon the grass, leaning his back against a tall tree that shaded him from the sunlight.
To him, it was quite surprising that the flowers managed to stay in bloom this late into the year, and he knew he had to take full advantage of the fact. After all, frolicking within the flowers was Isabelle's favorite pastime. The mareep skipped to and fro as Xander's sharp golden eyes watched intently. His partner pokemon was always so endearing, and he knew that once the cold weather rolled in, Isabelle would go back to crying ceaselessly due to the lack of blossoms to roam through. She was always so sensitive, just as the flora she played in. Although campus was bustling with activity as students walked to and fro, Xander hardly paid any attention to the passerby, as his focus was elsewhere.
[attr=class, acontent] Ah, to hell with it, he thought with a smirk, turning to approach the younger male. Hyro gave him a questioning look at the change in direction, but otherwise just went along with Connor as he approached the blue haired male. [break][break] Setting the canvas down propped against the tree the other was using for a back rest, Connor leaned an elbow against it as he shot him a cocky smirk. With the freshman sitting and the white haired man standing, there was a distinct height difference that left him somewhat looming over the freshman as he spoke, “Well, well, well, what do we have here?” There was a clearly teasing tone in his voice as he peered down at the latest victim of his flirting, “A freshman out enjoying the nice weather without a smile? Such a shame, especially for such a cute face.” The cocky grin never left his face, though there was a bit of a devious twinkle in his eyes as he waited for the reaction to his provocation.

Xander's gaze and attention was so fixated upon his playful pokemon before him that he hardly noticed the tall, white haired figure that approached him. The sudden voice so close to him startled him slightly, causing him to jolt his attention upwards. There, looming over him was an older man with a somewhat attractive smirk upon his face. Xander was speechless as he tried to process the situation. Someone approached him for conversation? Due to his cold countenance, it was quite uncommon for others to try to initiate conversation with him first, and so he found this interaction quite odd.
But then, the man called him cute.
Xander could feel the heat rise to his face. Was this man...flirting with him? The tone of his voice, that devilish smirk painted upon his handsome face...it had to be so. Mixed emotions of confusion, embarrassment, and more swirled through his head.
"...Can I help you?" Xander managed to stutter out, turning his head slightly away from the man to hide his blushing face. His tone was serious, but it was evident in the way he spoke how flustered he was already beginning to feel. God, this was embarrassing.
[attr=class, acontent] These freshmen were making this far too easy this year. Smirk widening to a grin, he eased his lanky form down to sit next to the already flustered Xander. Hyro hopped off his shoulder once closer to the ground, moving to dig a bit at the roots of the tree for entertainment. [break][break] From tone and reaction, it was clear the younger student was likely getting a blush to his face already, and Connor just kept up his usual devil-may-care persona as he kept trying to prod further reaction out of the blue haired male. “Oof, so serious, and here I am just trying to make the new year of students feel welcomed.” His teasing tone never faltering, he put a hand over his heart in a look of mock hurt. The look was quickly replaced by his previous devious grin, “So tell me, what name goes with that adorably serious face of yours?”

Xander shifted away the slightest amount as the white-haired man sat himself next to him beneath the tree. One could say that it was in avoidance, as the shorter man was already bothered by his presence in one way or another. Or maybe the true intention was to allow more room for him to sit.
Xander did not quite know the answer himself.
Regardless, he kept his scarlet face turned away from the eccentric character seated beside him. He attempted to pay him no mind, but no matter how hard he tried, Xander kept finding his amber eyes shifting over to glance in his direction. He forced his gaze to shift back to Isabelle, who had taken a break from frolicking around to roll in the flowers in the field. Within his ears rang the older student's teasing timbre, and Xander could swear he felt his face heat up another degree.
"...Xander." he spoke flatly, trying to maintain an unamused tone with his voice. Every ounce of his body was telling him to just ignore him, to not give him any more attention than he already had. But here he was, already telling this random stranger his name. As a way to distract himself from the whirlwind of emotions he was experiencing, Xander began to fumble with the blades of grass in the meadow, precariously attempting to direct his focus anywhere but the tease next to him.
[attr=class, acontent] Such a sourpuss, he mused to himself, the grin on his face still devious as ever. If this guy was going to be this hard to get a conversation out of he may have to use a far more straightforward approach to get a reaction out of him. Then again, he wasn’t fancying getting punched today – though he was also a bit doubtful Xander could throw a decent one at this point. [break][break] “Well then, Xander,” he laced his tone with as much saccharine as he could muster, “what could possibly bring you out here with no company but your little Mareep?” At the mention of the other Pokemon, Hyro perked up, suddenly eager for someone to play with since Connor was utterly engrossed in conversation. Spotting the sheep, he hopped up and darted over into the flowers as well, already rolling about in the grass and blossoms by the time he reached her.

The man's sickeningly sweet, rich tone sent a shiver down Xander's spine at the way his name rolled off of his tongue. He found his voice so undeniably attractive, and it was just so unfair. The grin on his face could only mean trouble, and it took all of Xander's energy to not give in to his devious ways. After all, Xander didn't even know this guy's name, so there was no way in hell he was going to let himself fall for him. Even still, he was horrible with taking compliments, and knew very well how red his face was from the heat he felt in his cheeks.
Xander kept his keen eyes fixated upon Isabelle as he purposefully ignored the man's question, hoping that doing so would cause him to get bored of pestering him. The little mareep seemed to jump in surprise as the red riolu rolled up to her, and she let out a small, timid bleat as she at first took a step away, but then a cautious step forwards towards the other pokemon. Perhaps she was feeling brave today, as she normally would run away in fear from unknown pokemon.
Even still, Xander kept as silent as ever. A gentle breeze traveled through the field, prompting his bangs to elegantly float against his but otherwise serious face.
[attr=class, acontent] And he was being given the cold shoulder. Naturally. Wasn’t the first time, it more than likely wouldn’t be the last. Xander’s refusal to answer his question did nothing to wipe the grin off his face. If anything, it only caused the corner of his mouth to twitch up slightly further. So many ways he could coax a response out of the blue-haired cutie. He could definitely see his words had some kind of effect after all, maybe he did need to do something a bit more direct to get a reaction. [break][break] The breeze picking up gave him an excellent opportunity for such an attempt. Blue bangs suddenly covering the other male’s adorable countenance thanks to the pesky wind. Grin still firmly in place, he smoothly reached a hand up to catch hold of the stray locks and tuck them behind Xander’s ear. Connor practically oozed confidence in his actions as he did, clearly acting as if it was the most natural thing in the world to do. [break][break] Hyro on the other hand, was busy making friends with the timid Mareep. Flat on his back in the flowers, he made use of his Play Nice move to help soothe the other Pokemon and assure her he was only there for play. Normally silly antics like his rolling around in the grass were enough to diffuse any worry about his intentions. Oh well, he’d been trained for using moves to help with that as well.

Xander froze and tensed up as Connor brought his hand to his face, brushing aside his indigo bangs. No matter how hard he tried to ignore and keep his gaze away from the sickeningly charming man, Xander's now wide golden eyes met with his as, somehow, the heat from his face rose another degree. It was such a simple, natural gesture, but it still managed to capture a lost, skipped beat from the serious man's heart. It was almost as if Connor had taken his breath away instead as he opened his mouth to react, but only a slight stutter was emitted. He bit his lip and darted his eyes away in embarrassment.
The state he was in was absolutely humiliating. How was it that this random man could waltz himself up to him and fluster him this badly?! It was painfully obvious that Xander wasn't used to this sort of attention, and he knew that Connor was relishing every second of it. "Wh-What is it that you want from me?" He managed to almost squeak out, his eyes moving back to the taller man and narrowing once again as he began to regain his composure in an attempt to mask his emotions. There was still a rather red hue to his face as he kept his eyes trained on Connor, no longer avoiding him as his sharp eyes locked on to his. There had to be some sort of motive, some sort of reason as to why the older man chose to meander over here to flirt with him, of all people.
Isabelle, meanwhile, was beginning to feel more comfortable around Hyro. After taking a few more cautious steps around the red pokemon, she tipped over and began to let herself roll around within the flowers with him. Even though this new place was large and scary, she seemed to finally find a place of comfort within the flowers.
