jared had himself stationed way above the ground, up to the rooftop of a building. binoculars were on one hand, while the other carried a radio. he was seated nicely on the rooftop flooring, legs crossed. his eyes were on a location below him, where he had stationed his electrike to be on standby until further instructions. all he had to do was to wait for someone to encounter him.
the dog waited beside the building where classes were held. it was a spacious area if he considered the size of the pokemon most students have with them, with a long strip of paved pathing with the building on one side and a forest area on the other. early weekend morning meant that no one else should be in the area, although that would not stop any student from wandering the campus.
he supposed he could do one last check before the encounter happens.
"breathe fire if you could hear this."
the electrike, upon jared relaying the command, did so. it was of a minor scale, with the puff of fire dissipating quickly in the air as soon as it was produced. the move wasn't meant to be an attack anyways, as the canine immediately picked up the intention behind it. besides, the instruction was to remain inconspicuous until ordered to do something extravagant.
a speaker was clipped on the dog's ears. the size was small and unnoticeable, and jared made sure to have it in a color that blends well with the pokemon's fur. the frequency should be low enough for other radios to pick up, but the electrike should be able to compensate with the electricity he generates.

oblivious to whatever scheme the well hidden male was up to, vivian was minding her business and, for once, not messing with some poor soul...for now, at least. asta faithfully marched by her side, his nubby hands holding onto a candy bar he eagerly munched onto. "If you drop it, i'm not buying you another one," the scoff left the orange-haired girls lips with little regard towards her tiny companion, who only gave a happy, eager nod.
she really had no reason for why she was wandering about - there was no intricate explanation for it except, 'she was bored'. at the very least, she wasn't tearing anything up or starting things with someone in her boredom, as she typically did. because, what better way to pass time than to ruin someones day? still, even she could have moments where peace and quiet was all she wanted.
with her hands behind her head as she walked about, the slightly chilly wind brought her back quite a bit, to the streets of Castelia. While it had its warmer days, the city wasn't the warmest of places, especially during Winter.
too absorbed in her thoughts, she failed to notice the stark blue canine just off the paved path she aimlessly walked upon - neither did asta, who was far too fixated on his snack.
jared vega this post was rlly bad but i got u next time im also on my phone so any errors ignore them
she doesn't notice him. jared silently judges the girl for being ignorant to her surroundings. can't fault her though, especially since this was early in the morning. still, it was more than acceptable.
"plasma globe," he whispers in the radio. his voice wouldn't be audible to anyone but the electrike, even if they had super hearing for some reason.
a barrier surrounds the electrike, waiting for the last moment before he erects it. utilizing protect, a force coming outwards from the electrike would push the girl and her larvitar away from the electric-type. electricity would emerge from the electrike to the surface of the dome that surrounded him.
touching it only incur to static electricity enough to make one's hair stand on their ends. it was relatively harmless, but a large enough display of it was meant to be more intimidating than anything else. besides, the show wouldn't even last long enough for the other to carefully study it.
"detonate."
the protect would disperse all of a sudden, with accumulated electricity inside bursting in every possible direction. jared knew it was ineffective against the larvitar, but harming it was not what he had in mind with that move.
it was to aggravate the trainer to attacking the lone electrike.

the sudden translucent glow of protect followed by the cackle of electricity over it caught the girl's eye this time around. she turned to stare, a brow quirked. this one had to be a trainer owned pokemon - wild ones usually weren't crafty enough to combine such moves without some sort of direction. asta tilted his head, staring, but, vivian otherwise ignored the canine...until the sharp shatter of the dome abruptly spurred forth her attention. it was followed by a sharp jolt of pain as electricity skimmed across her skin, her hair quickly become frazzled and standing on end almost immediately. asta, while he felt nothing, perked up swiftly, letting out a little frazzled cry as he hurriedly began to pat his trainer's leg, as if trying to make sure she was okay.
vivian herself seemingly 'froze' as she stopped in mid step. it was...incredibly quiet, as a hand lifted and smoothed back her ruffled hair for a moment. afterwards, her head tilted over her shoulder to glower at the small blue canine. "you little..." her voice was a quiet snarl, "kill it." there was a slight pause and hesitation from her partner before his foot stomped upon the grassy ground. abruptly, a series of large, jagged and glowing blue stone pillars would erupt from the ground beneath the paws of the electric pokemon.
did she actually mean to 'kill' the electrike? nah. she just wanted it to hurt a little was all. make it realize its mistake of really trying to attack her of all people. and if it was someones precious pet? well, even better. she could deck the loser in the face for being unable to control their stupid dog.
he supposed he was to pay for using the move protect. an effective retaliation wasn't the goal here, however, but to drag the fight out for as long as they can. the girl's willingness to fight made it seem like they were cooperative.
"make yourself mobile," he speaks from his radio, which is transmitted to the unnoticeable earpiece attached to the electrike. "magnet rise."
the stone edge manages to land a hit on the electrike, causing the electric-type to release a yelp. garm does not take the entirety of the attack, however, as he moves himself away from the trajectory of the move with magnet rise before the rest could damage him.
jared tries to asses the status of his pokemon: right side bruised, left front paw damaged, temper rising. he'd start scratching his chin at the quick evaluation. he'll have to make it more interesting for garm, he supposed. "do a thunderbolt. widespread. dial the power down a bit."
he could hear an audible scoff from his pokemon after he had ordered it to use an ineffective move against a ground-type. jared knew it as well, although the aim of the battle wasn't to come out as a victor. doing so would defeat the purpose of his hiding anyways. he wanted her to think that his pokemon was acting on its own volition. simple and deliberate mistakes such as these were one way of doing so.
garm follows the command despite his distaste of wasting time. he releases electricity towards the pokemon and the trainer. it wouldn't affect the larvitar anyways, and the potency of the attack wasn't going to leave any major injuries on the trainer either.

there was a slightly vicious sense of content the orange haired girl received from the slightest sound of pain from the electric canine. Hopefully, that would've been more than enough to get it to fuck off and go annoy someone else...but, no. The blue furred creature seemed determined to irritate her even further. A scowl quickly came to her lips, her dark-hued eyes narrowing as she noticed the almost limber movements of the 'mon - as though its paws weren't even touching the ground anymore. Magnet Rise, maybe?
Wasn't like it mattered much anyway. Either the thing was brain damaged from the Stone Edge or it was just really dumb, as electricity once again struck the larvitar. asta didn't do much aside from sneeze, giggling slightly at the tingly feeling of electricity briefly cracking over his body before it dispersed, once more ineffective. the electricity, once more, left the girl herself with frazzled hair and a...strange taste of metal in her mouth, for some odd reason.
still, it seemed the dog wanted to fight some more, eh? "should've ran away while you had the chance, mutt," the irritated snarl fell from her lips with a scoff. "trap it," the ground shook with another stomp of the pokemon's foot. the ground tore as jagged stones erupted forth once more. instead of directly underneath the electrike or even going to attack it, the stones rose skewed in an almost circular like shape, trying to close in the electric type. or, at the very least, limit its movements. the girl didn't seem to care all too much that both sidewalk and the lovely cut grass and flowers were being ripped to shreds by her aggressive battling style.
really, she just wanted to get this shitty dog out of her face.
