This was dumb. No, this was stupid.[break][break]
The irritation that played on the girl's face was more apparent than anything else. In fact, an aura of sheer, 'I'm annoyed,' emanated from her as though she had the ability 'intimidation' herself. It didn't take much to irritate her - hell, it didn't even take much to get to this level of utter annoyance, but, still. It was only the first day of classes beginning! [break][break]
What had Vivian in such a foul mood wasn't the idea of actually having to do work - no, it was more so the fact that she had to waste time that could be spent doing something meaningful with, instead, this idiotic, 'busy work' task. She, alongside the other of her classmates, were instructed with 'getting to know' one other person within their class. Not only did they have to write stupid crap down, they also had to get the others signature, as if to prove they actually spoke to someone. The teacher said something about, 'forging and strengthening bonds with your peers is the best way to prepare for blah blah blah pokemon blah blah' - stupid, useless shit basically. Where were the exciting battles? The feeling of blood rushing through her body in the height of a battle? The connection only a battle could bring between pokemon and trainer? She hadn't paid all of that money to get into some fancy ass school like this to do...whatever the hell this assignment was supposed to be.[break][break]
Three times. She tried three times to forge the signature and make some shit up, but, each time, that old coot sent her back with a disapproving stare. Finally, finally, Vivian gave up. Forced to adhere to the stupid assignment, she scooped out whatever poor sucker she could get to do this damned thing with. After scaring away nearly all she approached because of her impatient attitude and how meek they were whilst she was shoving the paper in her face, she finally found herself face to face with...?[break][break]
"...No thanks, find someone else." The distasteful, blunt grunt left her lips as she stared at the tanned skinned young man before her, an obviously dislike in her voice. While she naturally disliked...well, everyone, this guy? He just...he pissed her off for some reason, and she wasn't sure why. He seemed so...familiar though. Was this...that guy from the entry exams? Nah, couldn't be.[break][break]
There was no way that wannabe actually passed. [break][break]

[attr="class","wassup1dangertxt"] This was fantastic. No, this was perfect.[break][break]
Frederick had maintained some semblance of a smile throughout the entire first day of class, but when their assignment had been given it gained even more strength. His gaze had been wandering the room the whole time, his position in the back of the class giving him the perfect vantage point to observe his classmates. See who was paying attention, who was slacking off and who might be worth speaking to later. So when it was revealed that their first task was to get to know one of these fine individuals his mind started to race with ideas and possibilities. It was an amazing opportunity, one that he had to be careful not to squander.[break][break]
His sharp gaze betrayed the relaxed smile across his lips as he watched the sea of students mingle. Fred wouldn't immediately pounce on the first person to catch his eye, instead choosing to bide his time and see who the most interesting person in the pack might be. It didn't take long for a certain young lady to get his attention, a familiar face from the recent past. One that he had marked in his mind upon seeing her unusual style of battle. The violet eyed terror was one to be watched for more reason than one, all of which were rather exciting to the ever smiling student. He watched as she struggled to make a connection with the other students in her own forceful way, each failure prompting a silent bit of laughter from her oh so subtle spectator. Yes, she would be an interesting one.[break][break]
It was regrettable that he had to politely turn away a few of the students who approached him for the lesson, but his mind was already made up. He wasn't about to throw away this shot. After all of his silent observation the girl would finally look in his direction, at which point he would immediately move to lock eyes with her. They narrowed slightly into an almost knowing squint, the corner of his lip turning upward into the faint traces of a smirk. After a nod of acknowledgement he would turn away, giving her an opportunity to continue her search uninterrupted, albeit only briefly.[break][break]
After his delay he would start to cut his way through the class toward the aggressive young woman. He would remain silent, pursuing her wherever she may go whether it be in an attempt to lose him or she were simply unaware of his approach. Once the gap had been closed he would abruptly speak up, his cheerful tone contrasting the curious look in his eye. "If it isn't my friend Vivian Valestein. You have no idea how pleased I am to see that you excelled in your oh so trying exam." His thumbs would slip behind his suspenders as he spoke, his toes lifting off the ground for a moment as he shifted his weight to his heels in a brief rocking motion. "Yet it seems that this seemingly simple task manages to elude your grasp. Perhaps I may be of assistance? You see, I too have yet to find a partner for this most unusual lesson. And something tells me that you and I will have so much to talk about."

Vivian had hoped the tanned skin individual would get the memo and buzz off, but...that was being far too wishful, now wasn't it? Instead, the most annoying smile she'd ever seen curled onto his face - one that made her sick to her stomach. His tone was nothing but polite, but, to her? Oh, to her, it was like a beckon just begging her to slam his stupid, god damned face into one of the desks. Like a Tauros seeing a flashing red flag in front of them, only a minute into being face to face with this guy, and she wanted to punch him. Badly. At the very least, there was no denying that this guy was 'him'. Eh...what was his name? Franklin? Francis? Ferdinand? Tch, whatever. It was probably something dumb anyways. Although...the fact that he knew, and memorized, her name only served to irritate her even further. [break][break]
There was a definite twitch in the foul-tempered girl's demeanor as she continued to glower at him. 'Seemingly simple task'? 'Elude her'? Was he...was he trying to pick a fight? "I don't want your 'assistance', loser. Get lost." She snapped with enough venom to put a poison type to shame. Her fist clenched and unclenched - a slight habit of hers the angrier she got. And usually a tell-tale sign of when something, or rather someone, was gonna get hurt. How he managed to set her off so...quickly with just a curl of his lips and the ring of his voice was beyond her. Maybe she just really, really didn't like him? [break][break]
...Unfortunately, after a quick look around, Vivian quickly realized that...he was the only one left. Everyone else already had partners. So that meant...that could only mean...[break][break]
"...Fuckin' ugh..." the foul, irate words hissed under her breath as her gaze returned back to the male before her. Getting an 'F' on the first assignment, as easy as it was, wasn't a smart option. At all. Even if it seemed like the best one, to her at least. [break][break]
"Alright, alright. I don't need your assistance, but...." Ugh, she'd rather choke than admit anything to this guy. "It's clear you need my help since you don't have a partner either. So...I guess I wouldn't mind helping you out." Her arms crossed over her chest, a smirk coming to her lips as she arrogantly finished off with a simple, "You're welcome." [break][break]

[attr="class","wassup1dangertxt"] Oddly enough Frederick didn't seem to be even the slightest bit perturbed by her toxic response to his request, his smile remaining constant as he gave his suspenders a tug. He would stand in silence, calm gaze scanning across the classroom at the various pairs that had split off into their duos. He wouldn't have to say anything to convince her. If she was smart enough to get into this place it was wouldn't take too long for her to realize that she was out of luck. Her only options at this point were to accept his generous offer or accept an F. Either way he would be getting valuable information about this most curious individual. Did she actually care about doing well here? Or was she just here to screw around and had no problem getting an F, even if just to spite him.[break][break]
Black eyes would turn back to Vivi as she spoke once again, his brows raising as his lips peeled back into a pleased grin. The words that followed prompted a silent laugh from the aspiring ranger, his shoulders shaking slightly as he reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out a notebook. Before she even finished accepting his offer he would have his pad open and pen poised to begin taking notes, his head bobbing along with her words as she spoke. "Yes, thank you very much. You really are doing me quite the favor, so I appreciate you putting up with me." Even as his approach to their conversation took a jarring shift his smile and tone would remain as chipper and smooth as ever.[break][break]
His pen would work quickly on the paper, taking a few initial notes while also formatting the page to most efficiently organize the information. "I suppose we should start with names. Frederick Ferdinand, in case you forgot. Understandable, since I'm aware I don't have the most memorable face." His grin would die down to an amused smile as he finished making the final strokes on his page, the tip of the pen tapping against the corner of his mouth as he moved to meet her violet gaze. "I'm studying to become a Ranger, but plan on taking on as many courses as I can handle to learn as much as I can during my time here. My partner is a male Nidoran named Tiny, who may very well be the sweetest thing on four legs."[break][break]
The words flowed smoothly at an even pace so as not to overload his project partner with information. She was already irritated enough without him bombarding her with details faster than she could make note of them. "I have so many questions for you, but I feel that as the one doing the favor you have the right to asking the first set of questions." His pen would be pulled away from his face to be idly but nimbly twirled around in his fingers as he watched her with a curious look in his eye. "Ask away, my friend. I'll answer whatever you ask to my very best ability, just as I am sure you will in turn."

The orange haired girl didn't even bother trying to hide the heavy roll of her eyes - thankfully, no more vulgar words spewed forth from her lips. It seemed she was pleased, even if grouchy as per usual, that he went along with being grateful towards her....Because, he should've. Thanks to her, he'd be saved from getting an F on his very assignment. Granted, yes, it definitely was the same exact case for her as well but...details, details! As long as the loser understood his place, she was content. For now, at the very least.[break][break]
Ah...Frederick. So that was his name. Eh...she preferred 'loser number 1,' but, she supposed she could make some effort to memorize his name. The girl leaned back on one of the desks, halfway sitting on it - not bothering to grab pencil nor paper to write down what he was saying. Which meant she either had a very good memory...or she was gonna half ass the assignment. Try and guess which she was leaning to. Still, at the very least, she offered him her attention, for the most part. Most people could barely get a stare of acknowledgement from her, really. [break][break]
When he spoke of his 'goals' was when the girl finally perked up a bit. A ranger? Him, really? He was basically a tall, walking stick on legs. Did he even have any muscle? However, and more importantly, that...also could've meant he was a goody two shoes, like most rangers was - she nearly threw up in her mouth then and there. Rangers were, by far, some of the most annoying people. Always sticking their noses where it didn't belong and acting as though they owned the damn world...For a moment - and just for the quickest of seconds - a look of sheer spite flickered in her eyes. It was far different than the usual standoffish, aggressive look she bore. It dripped with something akin to the emotion of...hatred. [break][break]
But, just as quick as the dark and instantaneous look occurred, it was gone. [break][break]
Scoffing aloud at his 'offer', she did pause for a moment to consider what to ask him. The professor had given plenty of questions, some mandatory whilst others weren't, to ask their partners but....fuck that. She couldn't care less of 'how he planned to be successful in the academy' or 'where he came from'. In fact, she had far better, far more important things to ask him. Things that would matter in the long run. A smirk curled onto her lips, her grip on the desk becoming incredibly tight as she leaned forward dangerously close to the dark eyed young man. There was a...slightly dangerous look to her, an unsettling flash on her face that was...chilling, least to say. A honed tactic of intimidation picked up from Arceus knows where, possibly? "So, Freddy," she began in a low voice, "do you think you're strong?"[break][break]
There was a pause. [break][break]
"Do you think you could win against me?" [break][break]

[attr="class","wassup1dangertxt"] Dark eyes were keenly trained on his 'partner' as he gave his introduction, all of his attention in that moment focused on watching her features and body language. At first she seemed distant, barely half way paying attention as they spoke as if this entire conversation were somehow beneath her. Frederick expected such high and mighty behavior from the students at this school, but he thought it would usually come from the snobbish and wealthy individuals who thought their birthright put them above all others. But this one didn't have an air of nobility or polish. She was rough and crude, someone that most certainly didn't fit the description of your average student at an institution such as this. It raised so many questions that the dark skinned young man was all too eager to find an answer to.[break][break]
It was difficult to tell if the aspiring ranger caught the momentary look of distaste, and possibly even hatred, that slipped through the woman's features. If he did he didn't betray it, his explanation continuing on smoothly without missing a beat. If anything his smile would only grow brighter and more enthusiastic, but that may have just been because he liked talking about himself? After all, who would get excited that the person they were working with held such animosity toward them? Whatever the case his expression would remain calm despite the newfound spark of energy that seemed to shine through his black gaze.[break][break]
His expression would remain unchanging as he watched the smirk cross Vivian's lips, his gaze glancing toward her hands as their grip on the desk visibly grew tighter. By the time he looked back to her face it was...much closer than it was before. More importantly she was wearing an unusual expression, a cold yet fearsome look of unmistakable intimidation. Yet Frederick's expression wouldn't change, his eyes locking with hers as she began to speak in a lower voice than before. Freddy. His head tilted slightly to one side at that, his smile growing slightly as he listened intently at the words to follow. Could this have been a challenge? "My dearest Vivian..."[break][break]
Frederick would pull his hands away from his suspenders, moving to clasp them behind his back. The curious look to his eye would harden into stone, his smile growing into a knowing smirk of his own as he took a deep breath before continuing. "I am strong as a man, a ranger and as a trainer. Stronger than you think, I would imagine." As he spoke he would lean in as well, not stopping until there was just barely an inch between their faces and she could feel his gentle breath on his face with every word. The entire time his hardened gaze wouldn't move from hers, his lips peeling back to reveal his pearly whites as he continued. "But it doesn't matter if I could beat you. You could dominate me in every way you can imagine, and I couldn't care less." There was a hint of eagerness in his voice as he went on, almost as if this act of intimidation somehow excited him. "Because you will never be superior to me. And you will never scare me"

This was...irritating.[break][break]
She expected him to quickly realize just who he was dealing with. She wanted to see that smile of his loosen and quickly become a look of fear. She wanted to see him squirm - she wanted to see him afraid. She wasn't one of these rich punks he was likely used to dealing with. She was the real deal, and she was better than any of these pathetic wannabes in their class. But, most of all, she wanted him to admit to it. Perhaps it was bullying at its finest, using fear and threats in a manner such as this. For Vivian though? It was nothing but fun and games - a means to sate her ego. [break][break]
Unfortunately, it didn't exactly go as she planned.[break][break]
Violet eyes scanned his face for the slightest crack she could expose as her teeth viciously bared into a malice-filled grin. But, instead, she was met with the slightest quirk of his lips and a gleam of challenge in their clashing stares....As well as the overwhelming desire to break his nose.[break][break]
For a moment, the victorious and smug expression she bore began to falter. The intimidation tactics that could paralyze a gyarados fell, as a touch of irritation replaced it instead. Still, she didn't pull back even as their foreheads nearly touched - like hell she would be the one to lose whatever sort of 'game' this was. This was her playing field. [break][break]
A small laugh played in her throat, but, it sounded more cruel than anything. She was mad. But, similar to him, there was a challenge in her voice. "Bold words," she practically hissed out, "what makes you so sure?" Her eyes narrowed dangerously, her grip on the desk becoming almost painfully tight - likely to prevent herself from doing anything a bit...risky to the man in front of her. That grin grew more wild. It lacked the contained and refined excitement Frederick possessed though. In her state of irritation at his resilience to her 'bullyish' ways and the clear, strong will he possessed...it almost seemed bloodthirsty. If anything, it was reminiscent of that 'fighting spirit' she possessed and displayed so confidently back at the exams. [break][break] "You're not doubtin' me, are ya, Freddy?" Chilling words left her breath in the form of a question that added another layer of pressure into the tension from their existence alone. She was livid."Because I'm positive by the time you and I both realize it,"[break][break]
"You'll be terrified of me. And me? I'll be the one callin' the shots." That grin grew more wild. It lacked the contained and refined excitement Frederick possessed though. [attr="class","wassup1dangertxt"] Frederick's throat would rumble in time with Vivian's cruel chortle, counteracting her twisted excuse for a laugh being countered with the soft chuckle of an amused parent dealing with an amusingly unruly child. His features were completely unmoving as she gave her response, his cold eyes staring into her narrowed purple gaze as she continued to spit her venom. It was fascinating to watch, really. It was as if the girl were an ekans trying to pass herself for a gyarados. Her words were sharp and filled with poison and malicious intent, and there was hardly a doubt in the man's mind that she would love nothing more than to coil around his neck and sink her fangs into his flesh. To make him submit or beg for mercy. Frederick would have to thank his lucky stars that he would be so fortunate that this beast of a creature chose to make him it's target.[break][break]
He would wait patiently for her to finish, his eyes unblinking as he watched her savage stare. Only after the second round of intimidation was complete would they slowly close and reopen in a lengthy blink. She seemed so confident in herself as she spoke, the animalistic expression that took over her face fitting perfectly into the image Frederick had been building in his head. "Oh, I don't doubt you. Not for a second." One would be able to hear to the sound of a pen tapping against paper as he idly toyed with the writing utensil behind his back. The calmness of his words started to give way to excitement, yet his face would remain completely relaxed as he continued.[break][break]
"I know exactly what you are capable of. I know that you would enjoy nothing more than to tear me down by any means necessary. You wouldn't think twice about crippling someone's body, murdering one's pokemon or burning down the home of their family if it meant claiming victory over them. You would relish their cries and screams as you drag a knife across their throat and watch in satisfaction as you fed their carcass to your pokemon. That's just the kind of monster you are." There was no hint of teasing or joy to his words, the previous hints of chipperness being drained from his tone to be replaced with a coldness that could only be matched by his empty stare.[break][break]
And then suddenly the cheer would return, his speech now matching his smile as he raised his brows. "In my case, I encourage you try any and all of these things. In fact I insist. I would love nothing more than to see the creative ways with which you intend to destroy me." The pen and pad would be shifted into one hand, allowing him to bring the other up so that a single index finger could be raised and placed in the narrow space between their faces. "I won't even report your misdeeds to the faculty. It will be just between you and I. And if you do manage to break me then it will be my honor to be your obedient servant."[break][break]
There would be a pause as Frederick took in a deep breath, exhaling through his nostrils as it would be oh so rude to blow air in his 'partner's face. "As convinced as I am that the fates have brought us together, I'm afraid we are at a crossroads. Would you like to continue this little game of ours for the rest of class? Or..." His fingers would drop down and move behind his back once more, his other hand moving simultaneously to position the pen and pad between them. Though with how tight the space was he was forced to press it against his cheek to ensure that it was in Vivian's field of view. "Shall we get on with the assignment that has been given to us?"
