The Pokemon League of Sinnoh Elite Academy Trainer graduates are the movers and shakers of the Pokemon World. Few gym leaders, Elites, and frontier brains have earned their position without a certification from an Elite Academy. After receiving your acceptance letter to Sinnoh Elite Academy, it’s your turn to be the very best, like no one ever was.
Elite Academy is a statless, literate Pokemon college role play. Students are limited to one Pokemon at the start and may gain more as they progress. We strive to create a literate, collaborative, creative environment where people respect one another and have fun.

We just wrapped up our first Activity Check! As we move forward, the Fall Festival event will be up a while longer. Anticipate some exciting changes coming soon. Thanks for sticking with us!
If you have any concerns, questions, or suggestions for the site, don't be afraid to send any of that to Fox or Lyro. We're always improving!
[attr="class","eapcon"] There are two different types of Pokemon Battles at Elite Academy: Sanctioned and Unofficial. Sanctioned Battles are for assignments and staff-created events to further the plot. Unofficial Battles are less restricted fights between members.[break][break]
Sanctioned Battles
[break]
Upon completion, staff will award POKEDOTS AND TP. The default PokeDot reward is 500, and you'll receive at least 1 TP, more possible depending on the quality of battle. All participants receive the same rewards.
[break][break]
A high-quality battle will be COLLABORATIVE, CREATIVE, AND LITERATE. Work with your partner(s) to write a fun, engaging battle with good characterization and interesting writing.
[break][break]
You can use up to TWO MOVES per post. Scratching, headbutting, punching, etc. does not count against the Move requirement, but a Headbutt Move will always be more powerful than just smacking your head into the opponent.
[break][break]
Don't power play -- NO AUTODODGES, NO AUTOHITS. Moves that bypass accuracy checks in the games, like Swift, will be very hard to dodge, but are still not guaranteed to hit 100% of the time. Likewise, don't keep dodging attacks for no reason. That's no fun.
[break][break]
Balance game mechanics with role play flavor. Just because Draco Meteor has a base power of 130 and your Garchomp has STAB doesn't mean it'll OHKO the opponent's Pachirisu. That said, as a general guideline, base evolutions are likely to be weaker than a Pokemon with no evolutions; conversely, second evolutions are likely to be stronger than a Pokemon with no evolutions. Keep in mind, however, that this is a GUIDELINE, and what really matters is how the battle is role played out between members.
[break][break]
In case of a dispute, unfair RP, or need for clarification, staff will step in to ARBITRATE the battle. As one of our core values is Collaboration, members are expected to work out conflict through communication with one another; however, in the case that disagreement continues, or one member is distinctly taking advantage of another, staff will step in to make rulings on whether or not moves hit and their effectiveness. Engaging in a Sanctioned Battle signifies that you understand staff will arbitrate to the best of their ability, and that you accept any ruling they will make.
[break][break]
Sanctioned battles CANNOT be created by members.
[break][break]
Though most battles will be 1v1 affairs, THE FORMAT MAY VARY. (^:
[break][break]
Unofficial Battles
[break]
Upon completion, staff will award 500 PokeDots. For every KO on the loser's side after the first KO, the reward increases by +500 PokeDots. For example, in a 3v3, if the victor has one Pokemon KO'd and the loser has three Pokemon KO'd, the total reward is 500 x 3. All participants receive the same rewards.
[break][break]
Combat is entirely freeform. Participants can do whatever they like, provided they work together to have a good time. As such, staff will not arbitrate an Unofficial Battle, and members are expected to work out conflict entirely on their own.
[break][break]
Unofficial Battle threads may be made by members at any time.
[break][break]
The battle format is free game.

Quick Tips
[attr="class","eapcon"] While some people see Battles as scary, or have bad experience with “PvP” RP, Elite Academy strives to make the experience as fun as possible.[break][break]
Here are some quick tips to take your Pokemon battling to the next level: [break][break]
Autohits are, usually, in bad taste. It’s much more appropriate to describe what your character intends with their action, rather than the effect.
[break][break]
Instead of saying “Psyduck used Water Gun”, think about what that means. What does it look like? What goes through Psyduck’s head when they’re blasting somebody with water? Where does the power come from? What advantage does the trainer hope to get from this? Do they have a contingency if it fails? What does your Pokemon feel when they’re hit?
[break][break]
Think about the terrain. Is there anything you could jump off of? Duck under? Blast into pieces? (Just remember the academy rule against property damage!)
[break][break]
Using the same words to describe the same actions gets boring after a while. Read descriptions of fights or books with combat in them. Some good resources for words with an extra punch include this website and your local thesaurus.
[break][break]
There are no OOC consequences to losing a battle. Both participants get an equal amount of PokeDots and/or TP upon thread completion. Sometimes failure can bring more opportunities than success.
[break][break]
If you’re not certain on the details of your opponent’s attack, or believe they’re being unfair, TALK TO THEM. Communication is a key part of Collaboration.
