Everything had lined up perfectly for today. The weather was nice, no one had anything really to do, it was the weekend and people were hungry! What exactly did the young Vega have in store for today?

Well seeing as it was so nice today he had some friends decided that it’d be great to head to the park for a picnic, make a real party out of it! There’d be food, games, maybe some Pokémon battles while they were at it. It’d be a great time for both trainer and Pokémon alike and they had almost everything set up already.

The tables were set; most of the food and drink were set out. Most people were chatting and playing with their Pokémon already but there was one thing missing. They had forgotten the drinks and some of the desserts and Isaac had been nominated to go get the missing ingredients to their outside party.

It was a total bummer for the young man, the food smelled nice and he was enjoying watching his friend Nico and his shenanigans. Nico was a notorious con man who enjoyed swindling people out of their cash, his trick for today? A simple watch the ball in the cups but he always cheated.

It was kind of funny to watch, despite how it made Isaac feel a bit bad. But regardless of what he was doing previously it was no his job to go get the missing items so off he went. It was supposed to be easy, just go get the coolers and head back but life seemingly had it out for him.

At first it wasn’t too bad, he ran into some friends, said hi and kept going. After that he spotted some cute honeys and he had to say hello and introduce himself, and of course to no one’s surprise he flirted a bit.

To make matters worse he was challenged to some battles. Strider had been at Isaac’s side the entire time, the Pokémon even helping out and carrying a little bag, and the Pokémon had grabbed some attention. One battle was enough but apparently they did such a good job that more people kept challenging them.

After a sea of fights the two were exhausted, sitting on a park bench trying to catch their breaths. ”Alright, next time we say no after the third fight. You were great out there though, buddy.” Isaac spoke, laughing a bit at their silliness. He wasn’t supposed to but he pulled out a malasada for him and Strider, treats for all the battling.

It was a nice autumn day and she wasn’t about to miss taking advantage of it! At first, her plan was just to explore the city, but her focus quickly narrowed in on the mentionings of a party of all things taking place at the park. It was a lively occasion in the making, and just seeing the progress made on her first walk-by had her excited enough to head back to the dorms real quick. She had to better prepare for this.[break][break]

And that’s what had her coming back with a proper boombox instead of one of those tiny speakers she saw a bunch of kids racing around with. It took a bit more muscle to carry this thing around, but that’s what Slim Bby the Scraggy was happy to do if it meant listening to the energetic pop beats she had on blast. It was hard not to notice them as they waltzed the pathways, Desarae happily shuffling her feet to the beat as Slim’s head bounced up and down. Just the walk was enough to get them hype for whatever the part was going to be about…[break][break]

But waltzing around with the speaker that had her dancing with every step left her tired a lot faster and in turn, a need to stop and catch her breath. So, with little notice of the young man and his Froakie on the bench, Desarae came to a stop with a laugh when she felt Slim Bby bump into her leg. She looked down at him, gently taking the speaker from him to set on the bench before she leaned on it’s armrest. “How you holdin’ up, Slim?” she chirped.[break][break]

Slim immediately huffed up his chest in a proud display of a boy ready to keep up this jog-dance-thing they were doing. Desarae playfully pushed him with her foot - to which he pushed back - before she looked around. That was when she noticed the other person on the bench. With a quick twist of a nob, the blasting music was brought down to a much more acceptable level and she shot the young man a nervous grin. “Sorry ‘bout that, man. I didn’t notice you there at first. Hope I didn’t bother you?”

Their little break was interrupted by the loud sounds of music coming from boom box. And who exactly was the owner of said boom box? A girl and her Scraggy, who had been bumping to the beat and only stopped for a moment near the bench Isaac and Strider, had been sitting at. Given how loud the music was the duo heard the two coming from a mile away, though there was something familiar about this girl. Isaac couldn’t exactly put his finger on it but he was certain he had seen her before and he was good with putting names to faces.

Maybe he had seen her pass by or something on campus or around the city. Whatever it was it wasn’t like he was going to spontaneously figure it out now. ”No need to say sorry. I was definitely digging the beat you had going there.” He smiled, finishing up his snack and hopping up from his seat.

Isaac gave her a once over and the Scraggy too before speaking again. ”Ya know I caught your moves back there. While you were walking over here and gotta say, you two had a nice little strut going on.” He laughed. Strider didn’t show too much interest in the two, he finished his snack and watched carefully.

”Name’s Isaac and the quiet one over there is Strider.” When the attention was brought over to Strider the Froakie nodded to the two. ”Oh man we should have brought a boom box or something like that for the par-“ Right before he finished his sentence he remembered what he was doing.

”Oh man they’re gonna kill me!” Quickly he grabbed the cooler he was dragging along earlier and started to b-line it with Strider for where the party was taking place, only stopping to turn around to the girl. ”I’d love to stay and chat with you, trust me I really would, but I’ve got to get this stuff over to my friends for a party before they kill me for taking too long.” He took a couple of steps before turning around again. ”Oh and definitely come swing on by! We’ve got plenty of food! It’ll be a fun time!”

He was cool with her threat to his eardrums, and with that, Desarae eased back against the bench. It seemed like she found a promising spot to settle back for a few and possibly make a friend? Granted, this guy seemed a bit familiar! Was he also a student at the local academy? Probably. He looked about the right age to be one of her classmates, actually.[break][break]

He was awfully nice, especially with his praise of her and Slim Bby’s dancing strides across the park. Her cheeks blushed a bit even, a bubbly grin forming. She was excited to say something about it - thank him and--[break][break]

”Oh man, they’re gonna kill me!”[break][break]

Oh. Her excited expression dampered a bit as the nice young man - Isaac was it? - was gone just as quick as she had arrived! Slim Bby looked utterly unimpressed by the young man racing off into the distance with his Pokemon, but Desarae shot him a friendly smile and waved him off. A small laugh slipped out from her, but she figured that was just going to have to be the end of that interaction. At least she had a proper invite to that party she came out to attend, anyways![break][break]

So it was about a hour later before she’d properly arrived. Slim Bby still had the boombox in tow, playing music - albeit quieter than before - as they made their way across the party grounds… Heading right for the food tables, because Desarae was a hungry lady.[break][break]
