[attr=class, acontent] “Last one,” the white haired woman happily chimed to her Mawile companion, thick Kalosian accent coloring her words as she sat a cardboard box atop a stack of similar boxes. They all varied in size, but each was clearly labeled with what they contained as well as the name ‘Alexis Tuomio’ in a very neat script. Mordre has already darted her way over to the bed Alex had claimed as hers by stacking a trio of suitcases on the mattress. The orderly stack of boxes hugged the side of the dresser closest to the claimed bed, clearly denoting which side of the room she preferred. [break][break] She hadn’t expected to be the first one to move into the room, though it did make getting settled in a bit easier. “I suppose my roommate will arrive soon,” she mused to herself. Most of the students were arriving today from what she had seen on her way up to the dorm. “We should at least get ze bed made up and suitcases emptied before zey arrive.” [break][break] Mordre was on it as soon as Alex mentioned it, eager to get through with the tedious task so they could check out the campus facilities, particularly those that involved food. The Mawile opened each suitcase in turn, pulling out the neatly folded clothes before handing them over. Alex took each small stack as it was handed over and packed them into the dresser, meticulous to keep them all folded neatly as she did. [break][break] It took about fifteen minutes to get all of her clothes transferred to the dresser, but with it done the two could tackle the final suitcase. It was the smallest of the three, and inside was all of her bedding. Sheets, pillow, blankets, everything she needed to neatly make the bed. The two tackled the task together as always, getting it looking prim and proper in record time before Alex stacked the suitcases inside each other for later storage. [break][break] Looking up from the completed task, her sharp gaze examined the room with an almost puzzled expression. “Curious… I would ‘ave zought zey would ‘ave arrived by now at least.” She was rather eager to meet their roommate, though Mordre was attempting to make it quite clear she was impatient to get food. [break][break] “Maaaa!” the annoyed cry was a clear sign of the Mawile’s impatience as she sat on the end of the bed, shooting Alex the look of a petulant child insisting on getting their way.

[attr="class","wassup1dangertxt"] "I'm glad to see that you have your priorities straight." Frederick smiled down at his small purple partner as he tossed a piece of popcorn down to him. The toxic rabbit hopped up into the air a short ways to catch the kernel, somehow managing to let out an irritated grunt despite the joyful look on his face. The trainer would only let out a soft chuckle at this, his head shaking as he moved to pop a few pieces into his own mouth. Normally he would have liked to head straight for his room and get things situated before exploring the campus, but today was a day to be celebrated. Soon he and his companion would start on the path to their dreams. There was no need to rush things. Especially not when Tiny's keen ears picked up a popcorn stand some genius managed to set up on the campus. That guy must have been really raking in the cash today.[break][break]
The pair would slow to a halt as they neared their designated room number, each pausing to stare at the door. While the dark skinned student seemed to be enjoying the moment, the nidoran would be less than pleased. He would let out a low growl as he watched the entrance, his ears perked up and locked in it's direction. "Ah, so we have company already? Good. Let's introduce ourselves. Quietly." Tiny's soft growling would immediately come to a halt, his ears twitching slightly as the two would carefully step forward. It was nice to see the rowdy pokemon calm himself so quickly, especially considering how difficult it was to teach him that there was a time for subtlety.[break][break]
The doorknob would turn oh so slowly, the mechanisms moving in near silence before the door would be gently pushed open. Frederick was a patient man, willing to take all the time he needed to ensure that his entrance was as quiet as possible. Once it was open the pair wouldn't move from their positions, simply standing in place as they watched from the doorway. At this point Alex and Morde would be just starting to unpack their clothing and put them in their proper places, which he hoped would distract them enough to allow him to observe them for a bit. The aspiring ranger would grip the straps of his hiker's pack as he moved to lean against the door frame while Tiny would remain completely still, his ears standing rigid as he glared silently at the pair.[break][break]
If left undisturbed they would remain in this position for the next fifteen minutes, the dark skinned man's lips curled into a peaceful smile as he watched them go about their business. Neither of the onlookers were in a hurry, each one seeming as if they were perfectly comfortable with remaining in their respective positions for the rest of their lives. Whether either of their roommates would notice the living statues or they would stop to rest and speak with each other without spotting them would change little as the delayed entrance was made. Frederick's would push himself off the wall, his lips remaining sealed as he took a few steps into the room and examined the young lady's work thus far.[break][break]
"So sorry to keep you waiting. Though it's clear that you weren't without something to occupy your time." The nidoran would follow closely behind his trainer, the the sizable backpack strapped to the creature's back making his already petite build seem even smaller. They would continue forward toward the unclaimed resting place, the trainer nodding slowly as he took in the sight of the room. Once there he would remove the bag from his back, setting it down on the bed before turning to face Alexis. A moment would be taken to straighten out his slightly wrinkled dress shirt and adjust his suspenders before he would finally speak once more.[break][break]
"Frederick Ferdinand and Tiny, at your service." A arm would move behind his back as the other one would be brought up to his waist in a practiced fashion as he bent forward in a formal bow. Of course he would have to be careful not to spill his popcorn as he did so. "I have to admit, it's a pleasant surprise to learn that I will be sharing my quarters with such a lovely lady. I will have to brace myself for the jealous suitors that are doubtless to envy my position." His lips curled into a teasing smile making, a playful twinkle in his eye as he looked up from his lowered position to meet the white haired student's gaze. Tiny would remain silent throughout this introduction, simply hopping his way up to the bed with a soft grunt before turning to stare at the mawile with whom he had been stuck with. He always hated steel types.
[attr=class, acontent] Being wrapped up in her task as she was, the Kalosian woman had not noticed the door to the room open or the two figures who stood waiting in the doorway until the two had finished their task of unpacking. Mordre noticed, but she cheekily made no attempt to direct her partner’s attention toward them. Instead the fairy type merely kept assisting with the chore, a cheeky grin on her face all the while. Even once they had finished their task she attempted to keep Alex distracted. Ultimately she failed to keep the woman occupied, as their apparent roommate had to go and speak up. Whirling on her heel to face him, Alex clearly looked surprised at first, before replacing it with a warm smile, “I am sorry, I did not see you come in.” [break][break] Having been informed prior the floor was co-ed, Alex wasn’t necessarily surprised her roommate turned out to be a man, but she had not been expecting it either. It seemed his Nidoran partner was relatively well behaved, though she wondered about the backpack strapped to his back. Taking note of the state of his dress shirt, she couldn’t help but wonder if he kept his uniform in the same condition or if it was merely a side effect of moving. Her own outfit left much to be desired in the way of prim and proper appearances, so she made no comment on his shirt. Those in glass houses should not throw stones after all. [break][break] She hadn’t expected to receive such a formal bow in greeting as Frederick introduced himself and his Nidoran. Eyeing him curiously, one hand went to her hip as she shifted her weight to that foot as well. While the compliment was appreciated, she didn’t really get where he was pulling the quip about “jealous suitors” from. Her expression shifted to mild interest as she wondered about the statement. There had never been suitors trying to clamor for her favor before in Kalos, why would here in Sinnoh be any different? [break][break] “Well, I am quite flattered you zink so, but I ‘ardly zink zere will be any of zese ‘jealous suitors’ to worry about,” accent as thick as honey, she let out a light laugh that was just as sweet in response to the look he gave her. “My name is Alex Tuomio, and zis,” she motioned toward the Mawile still perched on the end of her bed, watching the Nidoran curiously, “is Mordre. She is a cheeky one, zough well-meaning enough.” Mordre herself had by this point had keyed in on the stare Tiny was giving her, returning it with a stare of her own. She knew better than to cause trouble when meeting new people, but it was clear in her stare that she was looking forward to eventually getting to battle him.

[attr="class","wassup1dangertxt"] So, his appearance earned little more than a temporary moment of surprise and a friendly smile with a matching greeting. It was already clear that he wasn't dealing with a jumpy sort, which was good. He would hopefully be able to go about his business and do as he pleased without worrying about having to worry about the startled screams of his roommate. Though he was sure that she wasn't entirely unflappable she was at least calm enough for the moment. Her pokemon seemed like a cheerful sort as well, the pokemon even aiming to assist Frederick in his little stealth exercise. He would offer the pokemon a small wave when she looked over, watching in amusement as she worked hard to keep her trainer distracted.[break][break]
In the end the game was over and it was time for some proper introductions and conversation. He would straighten his posture as she started speaking, his hands now busying themselves by tossing popcorn into his mouth as he casually listened to her words. Her thick Kalosian accent tickled his ears, his smile growing in both pleasure and amusement as she continued to speak in her unusual manner. "And a voice that could turn a blind man's head to boot. You really are quite the catch, my dear Alex." His attention would turn to Modre, his the corner of his lips turning upward into a knowing smirk as he nodded his head to the pokemon. It was good to know at least one of his roommates was willing to play along every now and then.[break][break]
Tiny on the other hand was less pleased, his nose twitching as their eyes met. A low grow rumbled from his throat as he looked down from his heightened position on top of the bed, his body remaining as stiff as his time by the door. Frederick would pay the noise no mind, instead turning to start unpacking his own bag. "If your home is a place where such beauty is common place then I think I may have to join you there." Even as his back was turned his teasing smile was audible in his words as he got to work dismantling his baggage. The pack looked more like he was about to go backpacking through the mountains than moving in to a new home, complete with a bedroll on top and climbing equipment dangling from the side. There was room for clothes and maybe a bed sheet but...that was it. As he unzipped it and started laying his clothes out on the bare bed it became clear that was exactly what he brought with him.[break][break]
It didn't take long for all of the clothing to be removed from the bag. The clothing laid out were all dress clothes comprised of suits, dress shirts and a few sets of suspenders. They were all fairly wrinkled from being forced to fit as much as he could in the limited space, but it was nothing that couldn't be fixed with a bit of care. Frederick let out a sigh as he looked down at his bunched up clothing, a sigh of mild frustration escaping his lungs as he continued to tug at his wrinkled clothing in discomfort. "All that aside, it's a pleasure to meet you." The aspiring ranger would spin on his heels to face Alex once again, his smile remaining constant as he turned his dark eyes to her more vibrant irises. "Now seems like as good a time as any for us to get to know eachother better, don't you think? Why don't you tell me a bit about yourself?"
[attr=class, acontent] “Catch?” her expression quizzical at the unfamiliar turn of phrase, “I am afraid I do not quite understand what you mean by zat.” She gave a small shrug as she moved to take the now empty suitcases from her bed and stash them in the space beneath it. Mordre didn’t even notice the nod in her direction, a cheeky grin on her face as she could tell the Nidoran was bothered just by her presence. She let out something akin to a snicker as Tiny growled at her, the large jaws on her head swiveling around to give the other Pokemon a grin of pearly white teeth. [break][break] Again, any implications or flirting in Frederick’s words effectively went over the woman’s head as he continued on. The only thing that came to her mind at the mention of beauty and home was the sundial in her hometown of Anistar City. That was truly a sight to behold. Reminiscing somewhat, she sat on the edge of her bed after stashing her suitcases, listening as he continued on. When she made a glance toward the things he pulled from his bag, she got the distinct feeling he preferred to travel light. A good idea surly when one intended to move around often, but it seemed a bit odd in the current situation. Still, the argument could be made that he preferred to stay in the habit of doing such, so she made no mention of the observation. [break][break] “Ah, yes, zat seems like a sound suggestion.” A cheery smile still adorning her face, she pulled one leg up to rest her ankle upon her knee. “Hmm, about myself. Well, I am from Anistar City in Kalos, I turned twenty zis past spring, and Mordre and I are attending classes ‘ere to be able to go on to become Interpol agents.” Her words held all the confidence of a person who was assured of the success of their goals. She had no reason to think she would not be able to pull through with her partner by her side, so why wouldn’t she be assured of the outcome? [break][break] Shifting slightly, she pulled her leg up a bit more, heel now resting on the edge of the bed as her elbow met with her knee. Setting her chin on the back of her hand, slim fingers hung in a relaxed position as she fixed Frederick with an intent look, an intense interest in what he would have to say barely veiled behind red irises. “So, ‘ow about you zen? What is it zat makes you tick?”

[attr="class","wassup1dangertxt"] Brows raised slightly as it seemed the lass didn't seem too familiar with what he thought to be fairly common lingo. Did this one have a sheltered upbringing or was Kalos really that far removed from the other regions? Or perhaps she was just playing dumb in an attempt to prevent him from making any sort of advances on her. Whatever the case he wouldn't allow himself to get caught up in his theories, his shoulders shaking slightly as he silently laughed to himself in response. A quick glance was given to the mawile as she flashed her jagged teeth at Tiny, the purple pokemon's needles starting to bristle as his ears swiveled toward his trainer. Oh how he wished Frederick would give the command so he could put this fairy in her place.[break][break]
But the trainer wouldn't pay any mind to his pokemon's frustrations, instead moving to remove the pack from the creature's back. The pins would lay flat against his skin once more as the human reached to undo the straps of the pack, only for them to rise once again the moment the burden was removed from him. From the pokemon's pack Frederick would remove what seemed to be drycleaning supplies. A small handheld steamer as well as all the tools that would be needed to restore his attire back to it's pristine condition. He held the steamer for a moment, looking down at his disheveled shirt as a thoughtful hum escaped his throat. He was starting to wonder if he was better off taking this cursed thing off until he could get it back to a presentable state.[break][break]
Luckily his roommate was there to distract him, the kit being placed on the bed as he turned around to face the other trainer. He would sit himself down on the bed, his hands clasping together as he leaned forward to rest his elbows on his knees. Black eyes would watch the Kalosian carefully as she spoke, maintaining his calm yet cheerful smile as she told her story. "Interpol, you say? How interesting! It seems that you and I are birds of a feather." His shoulders shifted as he spoke, unable to shake the discomfort of his creased clothing even as he attempted to focus himself on the conversation.[break][break]
The dark young man let out an amused chuckle as the question was turned to himself, his smile growing slightly as he shook his head. "I'm sure you'll learn about what 'makes me tick' in due time, my dear. No need to rush these things." Frederick sat up straight as he spoke, his hands moving to tug on his sleeves one more time before resting on his lap. "Goldenrod City, Johto. Nineteen, majoring in Ranger courses. It may not be as glamorous as the region hopping escapades that await you, but justice is something that must take many forms to be properly delivered where needed." The jovial tone of his voice faded slightly as he spoke, his words sounding a touch more professional. Once he finished he would visibly relax, a hand reaching over to scratch his grumpy rodent behind the ear. The gesture was met with a more intense growl of irritation, the pokemon's hind leg twitching slightly at the same time. "By the way, when someone is 'quite the catch' it means that they are a high quality romantic partner that one would be lucky to get a hold of. It's a compliment."
[attr=class, acontent] Sharp eyes followed her roommate’s movements, curious as to what could possibly be in the pack his Nidoran had shouldered. The sight of dry cleaning equipment brought the hint of a smirk to her face. Between his constant fidgeting with his shirt and these newly revealed items, Alex’s eyes twinkled with the new knowledge that Frederick seemed to prefer need and orderly attire as well. Good, she and Mordre would not be the only ones trying to keep the room tidy with that being the case. [break][break] The Mawile herself was utterly delighted by how easily Tiny could be riled up. The more she could do so, the far more fun their eventual battle would be. Battles during the entrance exam had been very enjoyable, but had done nothing to settle her urge to fight. If anything they had just gotten the fairy far more excited for the future ones to come during the actual courses. So she kept her stare leveled on the purple rodent, trying to gauge in her mind just how much of a challenge in battle he would be. [break][break] Alex was far more interested in the things Frederick was saying, and paid her Pokemon little mind outside of confirming she was going to behave with some modicum of civility. She trusted Mordre to behave, so she was not going to hover and watch her every movement. [break][break] “A ranger ‘opeful from Johto? Zat is definitely a curious choice for someone so put off by zeir own rumpled clozing.” The hint of a smirk still playing in her eyes, she straightened her back, both hands going to rest on her leg as she moved her ankle back to the opposite knee. “But you are quite right. No single entity can up’old justice with ze same effectiveness as multiple groups wiz different specializations working togezer.” [break][break] Tilting her head slightly at his explanation of the turn of phrase that had confused her before. It was confusing for sure, she had always considered herself underwhelmingly average in all regards besides her drive and learned skills to become an Interpol agent. As always though, she was polite, so she wouldn’t turn down the compliment despite her different views. “Ah, I see. Zat is not a phrase common to Kalosian, zough we do ‘ave some expressions zat are razer… colorful once zey are translated.” She let out a sound that seemed a mix of amusement and embarrassment as she recalled some of the things she had heard classmates call each other during high school. Alex never had figured out how calling someone a flea was considered cute, sweet, or affectionate.

[attr="class","wassup1dangertxt"] Frederick would give his pokemon a soft pat on the head, a soft bit of laughter slipping through his slipping past his lips as he withdrew his hand. Thumbs moved to slide behind his suspenders, his head shaking slightly as the chuckle faded. "Do not be mistaken, my dear. In the proper environment there is nothing I enjoy more than working up a sweat getting my hands dirty. There's nothing wrong with a messy appearance when it has been earned through hard work or a trek through the wilds. But there's a time and place for those things, and this is neither." He was sure that she would quickly learn this herself, as it was only a matter of time before he came home looking like a complete disaster but with the most satisfied of smiles on his face.[break][break]
Tiny refused to break his stare away from the steel jawed pokemon, seeming to completely ignore his trainer's words and gestures as he tried to stare a hole through his opponent. "But I am glad that we share a similar view on these matters. Nothing will ever get done if we turn everything into a battle for supremacy." His smile softened to one of serene joy, looking almost thankful as he bowed his head slightly to the aspiring officer. "In fact I'm sure that there's plenty that we could learn from each other. If you ever want any pointers on wilderness survival or tracking, feel free to ask. I also offer dance lessons." The corner of his smile would tug upward in a playful manner, tossing a wink to Alex as his shoulders shook in a silent chuckle.[break][break]
Kalosians weren't too common where Frederick was from. Sure there were some tourists who stopped by to take a tour of Goldenrod's famous radio tower, but aside from that there wasn't much opportunity to learn about them. They must have had a vastly different culture for such sayings to have never made their way over. The world was a larger place than he realized, something he knew he would have to come to grips with after he left his home region. "I would love to hear some of these colorful expressions. Perhaps someday it will allow me to pay you a proper compliment worthy of your charms." There was a teasing hum to his voice as he spoke, his eyes searching the individual aspects of her features before returning to meet her gaze.
[attr=class, acontent] So, he seemed to hold the same mindset about work as well. She had heard horror stories spread through her high school about the kinds of things to expect from roommates in college dorms as her classmates gossiped. Alex was exceedingly grateful to whatever power may be that landed her with this one. It was looking more and more likely that they’d get along swimmingly. “Naturally,” a smile playing across her face, “No time to worry about broken nails or grass stains when zere is a job to be done.” Sure, she did her best to prevent her appearance from getting messy when she could, but there had been plenty of instances where it just couldn’t be avoided. The memory of an opponent’s poorly aimed Mud Shot during grade school flashed in her mind, her hand moving to cover her mouth from the quiet laugh at the image of her mother’s exasperation over the state of her shirt. [break][break] Mordre was beginning to suspect the continued glare from the Nidoran was some kind of challenge. The grin on her face spreading in a rather puckish manner, the Mawile gladly continued the staring match as the two humans prattled on. [break][break] Raising a quizzical brow at the mention of dancing, Alex’s expression shifted to a more thoughtful one as she let her hand fall to her bed. “Tracking would be a very useful skill to ‘ave,” she paused for a moment, almost debating if she should just ignore the dancing comment or not, “zough I am not sure what importance dancing is to any of zat.” Between the comment about dancing and his next comment about her apparent charms she was starting to wonder if this was just how men outside of Kalos acted toward women in general. “I doubt anyone outside of Kalos would appreciate being called some of ze zings commonly used as pet names. ‘ow anyone could zink being called a ‘flea’ or ‘poo’ is cute is baffling even to me and it is my culture zat does it!” She sounded utterly exasperated at the last part, which, she was. Alex did not understand why people acted so ridiculous and stupid when they were dating someone. Letting out an annoyed huff at the lack of logic to it, she crossed her arms, her knee starting to bounce again as she mulled over the lunacy of it.

[attr="class","wassup1dangertxt"] Frederick gently placed a hand on his chest, his eyes widening slightly as his mouth opened slightly in a look of clearly feigned shock. It was difficult for him to convey properly, as it seemed that he couldn't keep the corners of his lips from tugging upward into a smile. Yet still he would manage to convey his intended meaning fairly effectively. "Not sure of the importance? My dear Alex, I am very surprised at you." He quickly glanced around the room, looking as if he were measuring out the space available to them. Unfortunately there wasn't too much room at the moment, but perhaps if they were to rearrange the beds...[break][break]
His attention would return to Alex, his his eyes gaining a passionate sparkle as he continued. "Dancing is one of the most useful talents one could pick up in our line of work! It conditions the body, helping train your muscles and stamina. Not to mention the all important factor of grace that you can only acquire through the art of dance. And then of course there's the fact that it's one of the most fun things you can do with a partner." It was a shame he was so worn out from the trip or he would've been tempted to push these beds aside and start their first lesson then and there. "Oh but tracking is a useful skill as well, of course."[break][break]
The translations provided for the nicknames she provided were interesting at the very least. Perhaps Kalosians in general were fond of terms of endearment, referring to the ones they care for most as something unflattering as a way to display how comfortable they felt with each other. Though he could think of another reason for calling a woman his 'flea' it wasn't something that would be proper to say aloud. "I'll admit, in our tongue those words don't sound all too appealing. But I'm sure that in the proper language they sound as smooth as honey and twice as sweet." All the while Tiny would maintain his stare at Modre, seeming to be completely unaffected by Mordre's grin. If one didn't know any better they might think that the little creature had fallen asleep with his eyes open.
